The Benchmade Shootout 5371FE-2601 is a double-action OTF built on a different steel premise than the Infidel — Z-Wear, a powder-metallurgy tool steel from Zapp that prioritizes wear resistance and edge retention above all else, in a taiga green aluminum handle and FDE-coated blade for buyers who want the best edge-holding available in a production OTF.

Z-Wear is a high-speed tool steel in the PM M4 tier — it holds a working edge longer under hard use than D2, CPM-S30V, or most conventional OTF steels. The tradeoff is corrosion resistance: Z-Wear is semi-stainless at best and benefits from regular oiling and drying, especially in humid or wet carry environments. The FDE coating on the blade reduces reflectivity and adds a hard surface layer that protects the steel between maintenance cycles. The taiga green 6061-T6 aluminum handle pairs with the FDE blade for a subdued, earth-tone presentation appropriate for duty or tactical carry without the all-black visual that reads openly tactical. Double-action OTF slider deploys and retracts the blade with a single push — no separate retraction button.
