CIVIVI BAKLASH FLIPPER POCKET KNIFE, 3.5" 9Cr18MoV STAINLESS STEEL BLADE, Orange G-10 HANDLE

WE Knife Co. is launching Civivi, a new value brand of knives and tools. The initial Civivi releases target a sub-$50 price point while emphasizing fit and finish.

The first Civivi release consists of three knives: the Naja, the Baklash, and the Praxis. As you can see with many initial WE Knife releases, the blade sizes here tend to be on the larger side: the Baklash is the smallest at 3.5 inches, while both the Praxis and Naja pack 3.75-inch cutting edges. In terms of blade shape, the Baklash and the Praxis clearly showcase the WE heritage with streamlined, narrowing drop points; the Naja on the other hand opts for a broad, bellied out style.

All three knives have G-10 scales over stainless steel frames, liner locks, and flip out on stainless steel bearings. Blade steel across the board is 9Cr18MoV. “WE is offering 9Cr18Mov, which falls somewhere between AISI 440B and 440C, giving the customer a tough blade steel that is highly corrosion resistant and holds an edge reasonably well.

Civivi rearranges its production priorities compared to its parent label. WE emphasizes variety, churning out smaller batches of knives with a multitude of collector-friendly variations.  By contrast, Civivi will be more restrained in terms of releases. However, each model will be widely available, produced in enough quantities that customers can get a hold of them easily. Catering to users rather than collectors, the Civivi knives emphasize obtainability in both in price and availability.
