The El Salvador machete is a medium duty machete great for cutting through small limbs, even chopping down small tree trunks.
The edge was sharp from the factory, but still held up well, no rolling or cracking despite heaving chopping use.
The handle makes grip a little more secure. 420 HC steel had durable powder coat to protect finish. Nice value for a hard working tool.
This is a great tool for cutting through limbs and chopping down small trees of up to 4" - 5" diameter. It will cut through a 1" limb in one fell swoop. The 1.8 lb weight is great for chopping, rather than slashing though undergrowth.
The powder coated finish is durable and it hasn't shown any wear after some hard use. Included with the El Salvador is an awesome, thick leather sheath.
The beautiful, convex ground 440 HC blade is a good choice for a heavy use tool.
The Condor El Salvador is a great tool for clearing branches and saplings. At 1.8 lbs, it's a bit heavy for slashing through vines for hours, but the weight is perfect for chopping smaller limbs and trees. I had no problem slicing through 1" mulberry limbs with one fell swoop. Small trees up to 4" can also be taken down.
The camo powder coating is very durable and hasn't worn at all after hours of use. The 440HC blade has a sharp, polished convex edge grind which didn't need any additional sharpening. After several hours of heavy use it didn't dull at all.
The sheath is made of thick leather and looks to be of high quality. Overall the El Salvador machete is a great value.
At 1.82 lbs, the El Salvador machete is more suited to heavy chopping rather than a lot of slashing. The 420HC stainless blade has a convex ground edge that is as sharp out of the box as you'd want a machete to be.
