The blade is CPM-S45VN, a Crucible Particle Metallurgy stainless that improves on CPM-S35VN's toughness while delivering better edge retention than CPM-S30V. It sharpens readily on a ceramic rod — meaningfully easier than M390 or CPM-S90V — making it the correct choice for a field knife that needs to be touched up quickly without a full sharpening kit. The clip point geometry differs from the trailing point on the 15500-04: where the trailing point sweeps the tip above centerline for pure slicing belly, the clip point brings a stronger, more precise tip that handles piercing and controlled field dressing cuts in addition to broad slicing strokes. The OD green G10 handle is glass-filled epoxy laminate — rigid, moisture-resistant, and textured for grip in wet field conditions. A sheath is included.
