The blade is CPM-S30V with a black coating and combo edge. CPM-S30V delivers edge retention and corrosion resistance that outperforms the standard 154CM Griptilian — it holds the working edge longer between sharpening sessions and resists surface corrosion without the coating carrying the load. The black coating reduces reflectivity for low-profile carry and adds a hard surface layer. The drop point profile carries a strong tip and a curved belly that covers a wider range of cutting tasks than the sheepsfoot 555-S30V. The combo edge adds serrated bite near the handle for rope, webbing, and materials that resist a plain edge. Black Noryl GTX (glass-filled nylon) scales are lightweight, moisture-resistant, and rigid. AXIS Lock closes one-handed from either side — fully ambidextrous at 2.91 oz.
