When Darrel started manufacturing knives in 1987, the knife business underwent a permanent positive transformation. For those of us who are enamored with cutting edge weaponry, his ideas are not just inventiveness in action but also a work of artistic expression. His very first knife was a flipper with a butterfly design. Five years later, in 1992, he made his first knife sale at a Cincinnati knife show. It would serve as the impetus for more than 20 years of designs that would revolutionize the knife industry and increase the bar for other makers of custom knives. He sort of raised the stakes and put out a few fires in the tactical folder market. His knives soon garnered the attention of the U.S. Government resulting in a contract to make switchblades for the military.
