Product Description
Opinel Carbon Blade No10 Folding Knife OP13100, 3.95" Carbon Steel, Beechwood HandleThe No10 is a big folding knife that should not be considered a "pocket" knife. Many people have found that its size makes it a perfect every day steak knife that can be folded and stored in a kitchen drawer. Of course this knife has many other uses but please consider its size if you are in the market for a "pocket" knife.
This Knife features the Virobloc Safety rings.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives sizes No6 through No12. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety while in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety on the go).
Blade: Carbon Steel
Our carbon steel is extremely hard, thereby guaranteeing excellent cutting quality, good wear resistance and easy regrinding. Carbon can corrode easily. We advise you to avoid damp locations and to wipe and grease the blade after use.
Handle: Beechwood
Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, our beech is hard, durable and easy to work. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is characterized by the presence of numerous small, -dark dashes.
Yatagan Style:The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape. The Yatagan shape is inspired by a traditional Turkish saber, the toe up. The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures the strength of the blade and allows efficient regrinding.
MUST KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING A CARBON KNIFE
Avoid leaving your carbon blade knife in damp environments for too long. Place a little food grade mineral oil on all metal parts regularly. Dry the blade using a dry cloth after each use. Opinel carbon knife blades are made using steels with a high carbon content, which is what makes it possible to achieve the excellent hardness after heat treatment, guaranteeing the strength of the cutting edge, resistance to wear and easy of sharpening. The hardness obtained after heat treatment are theoretically slightly greater in steels that do not contain chrome. The cutting strength is therefore better with a carbon steel knife and sharpening is much easier than a stainless steel blades which contain chrome. However, carbon has a low resistance to corrosion caused by moisture, which means that certain precautionary measures are necessary when using and storing a carbon knives
