The BSA26.Scapegoat.1 is a Blade Show Atlanta 2026 exclusive version of the Pro-Tech Chaves Scapegoat Compact, limited to 120 serialized pieces. It was designed in collaboration with Ramon Chaves and produced specifically for the 2026 Blade Show Atlanta event. Each knife is individually numbered.

MagnaMax is a proprietary steel developed by Larrin Thomas — the same metallurgist who created CPM MagnaCut — as a higher wear resistance evolution of the MagnaCut concept. Where MagnaCut was designed around balance between toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance, MagnaMax pushes edge retention significantly further while preserving that balance. It achieves this through increased carbon, niobium, and vanadium content, targeting the same tier of wear resistance found in high-performance non-stainless steels like K390 and CPM-10V — but with the excellent corrosion resistance MagnaCut is already known for. The result is a steel that offers substantially longer edge life than MagnaCut without sacrificing the stainless properties that make it practical for carry and daily use. Pro-Tech sources MagnaMax directly and applies their own in-house processing — what they call MagnaMax — at their Placentia, California facility.

Carbide texturing is a surface treatment applied to aluminum using carbide-tipped tooling to create a highly aggressive, consistent grip pattern across the handle face. It produces a texture that is significantly more aggressive than standard machined checkering or anodizing alone, providing grip retention even in wet or gloved conditions. On the BSA26.Scapegoat.1, the carbide texture covers the black aluminum handles and is one of the most tactile surfaces available on any production automatic knife.
