The 5405 is the textured black aluminum version with a stonewash CPM-MagnaCut reverse tanto blade, and it represents exactly what the Malibu is all about: a manual knife that carries the same precision and fit-and-finish you expect from a Pro-Tech automatic, in a package that is legal everywhere.
The reverse tanto blade is 3.25 inches of CPM-MagnaCut, ground to a high flat grind that delivers a razor-sharp edge from heel to tip. MagnaCut balances edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance better than most steels at any price point, and the stonewash finish keeps it looking sharp through real use. The branding and steel designation are hidden on the spine of the blade, leaving the face completely clean. Deployment is on ball bearings with hardened steel washers, and the tuned button lock detent system creates a crisp, satisfying break when the flipper is engaged. There is no separate detent ball. The button lock handles it all.
The handle is 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum with a textured finish that gives you real grip without bulk. At 4.25 inches it fits a wide range of hand sizes and the ergonomics are designed so your fingers naturally index into position without thinking about it. The mini deep carry clip sits flush to the handle and keeps the knife completely hidden in the pocket at just 2.99 ounces. There is a lanyard hole if you run one.
