The Wilderness Guide 4.0 represents a wonderful evolution of design at TOPS, and it's exciting to see how it has flourished over the years! This knife showcases the creative brilliance of Leo Espinoza from his early days with us. A unique highlight is its innovative handle shape—originating quite serendipitously when Leo was engaged in some photography for TOPS. While working with modeling clay as a prop, he playfully squeezed it and set it down, only to later discover that this formed an incredibly comfortable grip for a knife! Inspired by this moment of creativity, he designed a wide blade with a high grind that's perfect for all sorts of tasks.

Now, we are thrilled to announce an upgrade that brings even more functionality and style: Leo has enhanced the design with a thicker, more rounded handle and slightly heavier blade stock—all packaged beautifully within a Kydex sheath instead of nylon! The bullnose drop-point tip on this upgraded blade is not just robust—it’s ideal for prepping fire boards for friction fires while also ensuring gentleness during skinning game to avoid any punctures through hide.
