Product Description
The Benchmade Successor Slipjoint 315BK-01 takes the premium M390 steel and compact format of the 315 platform and strips the lock entirely — a traditional slipjoint with a DLC-coated drop point blade, burnt brass scales, and half-stop deployment for buyers who carry where locking folders are restricted or who simply want the most capable steel available in a gentleman's carry form factor.
The blade is M390, the Böhler-Uddeholm powder-metallurgy stainless that outperforms CPM-S30V and CPM-S35VN in edge retention and wear resistance at comparable corrosion resistance levels. In a slipjoint context, M390 means a blade that holds a working edge far longer between sharpenings than the stainless alloys found in traditional pocket knives — a meaningful upgrade for a knife that sees daily cutting use. The DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating adds a hard, low-friction surface layer, brings reflectivity to near zero, and gives the 315BK-01 a visual identity distinct from the stonewash gray of the standard 315. The burnt brass scales develop a unique patina with carry — warm, traditional, and unlike the aluminum handle of the standard Successor. Nail nick deployment; no locking mechanism; traditional half-stop pull weight.
Ships same or next business day from Knifeworks in Columbia, Louisiana.
• Blade Steel: M390 powder-metallurgy stainless, DLC coated — premium edge retention and wear resistance far exceeding typical slipjoint steels; DLC adds hard surface and near-zero reflectivity
• Blade: 2.60" drop point, hollow grind, plain edge, DLC black finish — compact slipjoint blade for restricted carry; M390 compensates for size with superior edge retention
• Lock Type: Slipjoint — half-stop nail nick deployment, no locking mechanism; correct for jurisdictions restricting locking folders and for traditional gentlemen's carry
• Handle: Burnt brass — traditional material with patina character that develops with carry; warmer and heavier feel than the standard 315's aluminum
• 315BK-01 vs. 315: Same blade platform — slipjoint vs. AXIS Lock; brass vs. aluminum; DLC black vs. stonewash gray; traditional carry vs. performance EDC
• Carry: 2.98 oz, tip-up clip — compact slip joint for front pocket carry
• Dimensions: 6.24" overall, 3.64" closed, 2.28" edge length, 0.084" blade thickness
• Warranty: Benchmade LifeSharp warranty — free lifetime sharpening, blade replacement, and mechanical repair
