If maximum blade length within the Launch series is a priority, the Launch 6 is the largest confirmed option. The Kershaw Launch 6 uses a side-button automatic mechanism — press the button on the spine of the handle and the blade deploys instantly, locking open via the liner lock. To close, disengage the liner lock with your thumb and fold the blade back into the handle. The Launch 6 is a folding automatic knife — the 3.75-inch CPM-154 drop point pivots from the handle. Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic composite coating applied by spray and thermally cured onto the metal surface — harder and more abrasion-resistant than standard black-oxide, and more durable against contact abrasion than PVD at the blade face. On CPM-154, Cerakote adds a functional corrosion barrier on top of the steel's already excellent stainless resistance. Cerakote wears at the edge bevel with repeated sharpening; once removed there, the bare CPM-154 steel underneath is still highly corrosion resistant on its own, so this is a low-maintenance combination overall.

CPM-154 is the powder metallurgy version of the classic 154CM stainless steel formula, produced by Crucible Industries. The powder metallurgy process produces a more uniform carbide distribution than conventionally melted 154CM, resulting in better edge retention, improved toughness, and cleaner sharpening behavior while retaining 154CM's excellent corrosion resistance.
