The Benchmade Mini Claymore 9570BK-1 is the ranger green Grivory variant of the compact AXIS Assist Claymore platform — D2 tool steel with a black coating, plain drop point blade, and ranger green handle for buyers who want the Mini Claymore's hard-use tool steel in a field and outdoor carry color.
The blade is D2, the high-carbon high-chromium tool steel used across the Claymore and Infidel families — exceptional wear resistance and edge retention compared to fully stainless production steels, at the cost of regular oiling and drying to prevent surface oxidation. The black coating reduces reflectivity and protects the blade surface between maintenance cycles. Plain edge sharpens efficiently at home on a ceramic rod or strop. The 3.00-inch blade clears carry-length restrictions in more jurisdictions than the full-size Claymore's 3.60-inch blade while retaining AXIS Assist deployment speed and AXIS Lock security. Ranger green Grivory (glass-filled nylon) handle scales provide a field-appropriate aesthetic distinct from the all-black 9570BK.
