Spartan Astor Folding Knife
This is a terrific knife. The overall feeling is very solid, with no horizontal or vertical blade play when locked. It doesn't swing freely out of the box, but that's fine with me and I don't plan to adjust it. The G-10 scales are thick and cleanly milled, and without looking you'd never notice that it has a liner only on one side. The blade has a high primary grind and a long distal taper, and I find the shape to be very useful. The secondary grind is mostly even, maybe a little
bit narrower at the heel, but you have to look hard to see it. The handle is slightly shorter than on my PM 2, but because of its shape it has 1/4 to 3/8 inch more grip space, which makes it perfect for my xl-sized hands. The G10 has a slightly coarser texture than the PM2 and feels more secure in hand. The clip is shorter than I'm used to, but I've had no worries about retention. In use, the clip seems to melt into my palm, making the knife very comfortable with no hot spots.
Lockup on mine is early, maybe 25 percent, and the blade is perfectly centered. This is a very well-made knife and fairly priced even at MSRP. Knifeworks has by far the best price I've seen on this one, and the same super-fast shipping I've experienced before. Five stars all around.
