The Benchmade PSK 593GY-02 puts Elmax powder-metallurgy stainless in a practical assisted-opening platform — AXIS Assist deployment in a 3.45-inch blade, storm gray Grivory handle, built for buyers who want a premium steel folder with spring-assisted speed without the legal and carry restrictions of an automatic knife.
The blade is Elmax, Böhler-Uddeholm's powder-metallurgy stainless with a finer grain structure than CPM-S35VN. Elmax takes a very keen initial edge from the factory, holds it well through daily cutting use, and sharpens easily on a ceramic rod — it's a practical premium steel that delivers performance without the sharpening demands of M390 or CPM-S90V. The AXIS Assist mechanism deploys the blade via thumb stud with spring assistance, closing one-handed from either side with the standard AXIS Lock bilateral mechanism. This is not an automatic — AXIS Assist is legal in the vast majority of jurisdictions where traditional automatics are restricted, making the PSK a deployable-speed EDC for buyers who need both. Storm gray Grivory (glass-filled nylon) handle scales are lightweight, moisture-resistant, and rigid.
