BOKER KNIVES

Boker Knives — Authorized Dealer

In 1674, a small forge outside Remscheid registered a chestnut tree as its craftsman's mark. That tree became the symbol of a knife-making dynasty. By 1869, Heinrich Boker had established the manufactory in the "City of Blades" — the same facility that still produces Boker Germany's flagship knives today. Every Boker Germany knife that has left that building in over 150 years has carried the Tree Brand. Not as marketing. As a contract.

The original chestnut tree was struck by lightning in 1925. The wood was carved into the logo that still hangs at the entrance to the Boker Germany manufactory. The Tree Brand survived two world wars, multiple ownership transitions, and a century of industrialization by doing one thing: making knives people trust. Today Boker is Europe's largest manufacturer of sporting, tactical, and collector's knives — and the brand still operates from that same address.

Knifeworks carries the full Boker lineup as an authorized dealer — Boker Germany Tree Brand traditional and collector folders, Boker Plus designer collaborations, and Annual Damascus limited editions. Every order ships same or next business day from Columbia, Louisiana. Questions? Call 888-225-9775.

Boker Germany vs. Boker Plus: Understanding the Two Lines

Boker operates two primary production lines. Knowing which is which makes buying decisions much easier:

Boker Germany (Tree Brand) Boker Plus
Made In Boker Germany — flagship manufactory, in operation since 1869 Taiwan, Italy, USA, or international facilities depending on model
Design Origin In-house Boker Germany designs, traditional patterns, annual limited editions External designer collaborations — Lucas Burnley, Brad Zinker, Ostap Hel, and many others
Steel Range N690, C75 carbon, Damascus, CPM MagnaCut (select Manufaktur models) VG-10, D2, 154CM, CPM-S35VN, CPM MagnaCut (select collab models)
Price Range Mid to high; Annual Damascus in the $300–$700+ range Entry-to-mid; most models $50–$250
Best For Collectors, traditional pocket knife buyers, Damascus enthusiasts EDC buyers, designer knife enthusiasts, buyers who want custom aesthetics at production pricing
Quick rule: If the box says "Boker Manufaktur" or carries the Tree Brand logo as the primary mark, it's made in Germany. If it says "Boker Plus," it's the designer collab line. Both are genuine Boker products covered by Boker's warranty.
Annual Damascus — Boker's Limited-Edition Collector Knife Program

In 1980, Boker pioneered the first serial production of Damascus steel pocket knives. To mark the achievement, they released the first Annual Damascus — a limited-edition collector knife released once per year, with a production number on every piece. That tradition has continued every year since, making Boker's Annual Damascus series one of the longest-running limited-edition knife programs in the world.

What makes each Annual Damascus distinct:

  • Unique Damascus pattern: Each year features a different Damascus forging style — ladder, raindrop, Chad Nichols Wavepool, twist, and others. No two years share the same blade pattern.
  • Premium handle materials: Past editions have featured desert ironwood, mother-of-pearl, carbon fiber, marbled carbon, and stabilized burl wood.
  • Strict worldwide production limits: Typically under 1,000 pieces globally. The 2026 edition is limited to 999 pieces and draws on Lucas Burnley's Kihon Bifold design with a 160-layer ladder-pattern Damascus blade and carbon fiber handles.
  • Individual production number: Each knife is numbered, making each piece a trackable collectible.
Pre-order strategy: Many Annual Damascus editions sell out before or at delivery. Knifeworks receives an allocation each year. Call 888-225-9775 as soon as a new edition is announced to secure your piece. Do not wait for in-stock notification — they frequently don't restock.
Boker Plus Designer Collaborations — Who Makes What

Boker Plus's competitive advantage is its roster of external designers. Instead of developing all designs in-house, Boker Plus licenses signature designs from respected makers and produces them at production scale — giving buyers a custom-knife aesthetic at a fraction of custom pricing. The key collaborators:

  • Lucas Burnley (New Mexico): The most prolific name in the Boker Plus stable. Designer of the Kwaiken — a Japanese tanto-influenced folder that's become one of the brand's signature EDC designs — as well as the Kihon Bifold, BFF, and BRLW. Burnley also designed the 2026 Annual Damascus for Boker Germany. His designs are recognized by clean blade lines, minimal decoration, and Japanese aesthetic influence.
  • Brad Zinker (Florida): Designer of the Urban Trapper — Boker Plus's most recognized EDC gentleman's folder. The Urban Trapper's 8mm handle thickness and IKBS ball-bearing system made it one of the slimmest titanium frame locks ever produced at its price point.
  • Ostap Hel: Ukrainian designer known for the Strike series and other tactical-leaning folder designs in the Boker Plus lineup.
  • Jared Price (California): Designer of the Lhotak Storm — a refined flipper with clean geometry and a design sensibility that bridges EDC and collector-grade aesthetics.
  • Additional collaborators: Raphael Durand, Alex Schrade, David Mosier, and others — each bringing signature geometry at production pricing.
Each Boker Plus collaboration is a production version of the designer's own custom aesthetic. The result is a knife that looks and feels designed — because it was — by someone who makes their living at it.
The Urban Trapper — Boker's Defining EDC Gentleman's Folder

Designed by Florida-based Brad Zinker, the Urban Trapper has become one of the defining slim EDC folders of the last decade. Its stats explain the following it's built:

Spec Detail
Handle Thickness 8mm (0.3 in) without clip — one of the slimmest titanium frame locks at its price
Blade Steel VG-10 stainless (most versions) — corrosion-resistant, sharpenable, holds a working edge
Lock Type Frame lock — titanium frame applies direct lockup pressure on the blade
Pivot System IKBS ball-bearing — smooth opening, low maintenance
Handle Material Titanium (base), with handle scale variants in G-10, Cocobolo, Carbon Fiber, and others
Opening Flipper tab or thumb stud depending on variant
Carry Tip-up deep carry clip; shirt-pocket appropriate

The Urban Trapper comes in multiple handle variants — the base titanium, the Gentleman (longer, Cocobolo scales), the G10, and others. If you're deciding between variants: the standard titanium is the lightest and most pocketable; the Gentleman offers more handle real estate for larger hands.

Frame lock note: The Urban Trapper's titanium frame lock is very secure but can engage tightly under heavy use. This is normal for titanium-on-steel lockups. It's a feature of the design, not a defect.

Boker Knives — Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Boker knives made?

Boker operates two distinct production lines. Boker Germany (Tree Brand) knives are manufactured at Boker's flagship manufactory — in operation since 1869. Boker Plus knives are produced through international partnerships, primarily in Taiwan, with select models made in Italy, the USA, or other facilities depending on the design collaboration. The production origin is listed on each product page.

Is Knifeworks an authorized Boker dealer?

Yes. Knifeworks is an authorized dealer for Boker, carrying both Boker Germany Tree Brand and Boker Plus. Every Boker sold through Knifeworks is 100% authentic, ships in original packaging, and is covered by Boker's warranty against defects. Call 888-225-9775 with any questions about a specific model.

What is the Boker Annual Damascus and how do I get one?

The Boker Annual Damascus is a limited-edition collector knife released once per year — a tradition Boker started in 1980 when they pioneered serial Damascus production. Each edition features a unique Damascus pattern, premium handle materials, and an individual production number. Worldwide quantities are typically under 1,000 pieces. Many editions sell out before or at delivery. To secure one, pre-order through Knifeworks as soon as the new edition is announced. Call 888-225-9775 for current allocation status.

What is the difference between Boker Germany and Boker Plus?

Boker Germany (Tree Brand) knives are designed and manufactured at Boker's manufactory — traditional patterns, annual limited editions, and collector-focused designs. Boker Plus is the modern designer collaboration line, with external designers like Lucas Burnley, Brad Zinker, and Ostap Hel contributing signature designs produced through international manufacturing partners. Boker Plus offers custom-knife aesthetics at production pricing; Boker Germany offers handcraft heritage and collectible editions.

What steels does Boker use?

Boker uses a range of steels across its lines. Boker Germany primarily uses N690 (Austrian stainless) and C75 high-carbon steel in traditional models, with Damascus and CPM MagnaCut in premium Manufaktur editions. Boker Plus uses VG-10 (Urban Trapper, Kwaiken), D2, 154CM (Kalashnikov), CPM-S35VN, and CPM MagnaCut in select designer collab editions. Steel is specified on every product page.

What is Boker's warranty?

Boker's warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product to the original owner. If a Boker product fails under normal use due to a manufacturing defect, Boker will repair or replace it with an item of equal or greater value — the owner pays shipping and handling. The warranty does not cover normal wear, misuse, blade rusting on carbon steel, blade breakage after extended use, or ceramic blade chipping. For claims, contact Boker USA directly at bokerusa.com/warranty or 1-800-992-6537 Ext. 121.

What is the Urban Trapper and who designed it?

The Urban Trapper is a slim EDC gentleman's folder designed by Florida-based custom knife maker Brad Zinker and produced by Boker Plus. Its 8mm handle thickness and IKBS ball-bearing system made it one of the slimmest titanium frame locks at its price point when it launched, and it remains Boker Plus's most recognized everyday carry design. It is available in multiple handle variants including titanium, G-10, and Cocobolo wood scales.

What is the Kwaiken?

The Kwaiken is a folding knife designed by Lucas Burnley for Boker Plus, named after the traditional Japanese tanto-style short blade. It features a distinctive angular tanto-influenced blade profile, ball-bearing flipper deployment, and titanium frame construction. It is available in both Boker Plus (production, international manufacturing) and Boker Manufaktur (hand-finished in Germany, premium steels including CPM MagnaCut) versions. Steel options across versions include VG-10, D2, CPM-S35VN, and CPM MagnaCut.
