The blade is D2, a high-carbon high-chromium tool steel that delivers exceptional wear resistance and edge retention compared to fully stainless production steels. D2 is the same alloy used in the Benchmade Infidel OTF series — it holds a working edge longer under hard use than stainless EDC steels but requires more maintenance: regular oiling and drying to prevent surface oxidation, particularly in humid or wet carry environments. The gray coating reduces the D2 blade's corrosion exposure between maintenance cycles and provides a muted, low-reflectivity appearance suited for field and duty carry. The green Grivory (glass-filled nylon) handle keeps the Claymore at a manageable weight despite the 3.89-inch blade. Double-action OTF slider deploys and retracts the blade with a single push in either direction.
