Product Description
The Barlow is one of the oldest pocket knife patterns in existence — a design that goes back to 17th-century England and never really went out of style. Case's 55233 brings that timeless silhouette into a Pocket Worn Corn Cob Jigged Mahogany Bone handle, pre-tumbled to give it the warmth and character of a knife that's been carried for years. The result is a slip joint that feels like an heirloom before you've owned it a day. The oversized bolster at the blade end — the Barlow's defining feature — is fluted and polished to a mirror shine, making this one of the more visually striking versions of the pattern Case has ever released.
Both blades are Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel with a mirror polish: a 2 1/2" clip point for everyday cutting tasks and a 1 7/8" pen blade for fine work. The pattern number is 62009 1/2 SS, and the blade is etched with "POCKET WORN 30th ANNIVERSARY" — a marker of this knife's place in the Pocket Worn lineup's history. The nickel silver bolsters are fluted and highly polished, complemented by a nickel silver Case Arrowhead Inlay shield on the Mahogany Bone handle. Closed length is 3 3/8 inches — more compact than the Trapper, and just right for a front pocket or vest. Weight runs approximately 1.9 ounces. Handmade in Bradford, Pennsylvania, and tang stamped for dating, as every Case knife has been since 1889.
The Barlow is the quiet favorite of Case collectors — harder to find than the Trapper, just as well made, and appreciated by the people who know what they're looking at. If you're adding to a collection, buying a first Case knife, or looking for a gift that someone will carry every day for the next 30 years, the 55233 is the right call. Knifeworks is an authorized W.R. Case & Sons dealer. Your purchase is backed by Case's limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty.
