    Anchor Lock Knives: Vosteed’s Magnetic-Assist Button Lock

    The Anchor Lock, patented by Vosteed Knives as the V-Anchor Lock, feels like a premium button lock from the outside — a single button nested into the pivot drops the blade shut with a press. Internally, though, the design is its own thing: instead of a small spring-loaded piston dropping into a cutout on the blade, the V-Anchor Lock uses a solid, hardened steel lock plate that wedges against the side of the blade tang the same way a heavy-duty Liner Lock does. Pressing the pivot button rocks this entire internal lock plate out of the blade's path so the knife can close.

    Built into the lock shaft is a cylindrical N52 neodymium magnet. When the knife is closed, that magnet pulls the button flush and fully recessed into the handle scales, so there is no proud button sitting exposed in your pocket waiting to get bumped. That same recessed fit is what makes the V-Anchor Lock feel noticeably more resistant to accidental deployment than a standard button lock.

    At Knifeworks, the Anchor Lock currently appears on the Vosteed Ankylo and the Vanchor Lock edition of the Shilin Cutter, both built around aluminum or G10 handles with Elmax or 154CM blade steel.

    Why the Anchor Lock feels different from a standard button lockA standard button lock relies entirely on spring tension to hold its piston in the blade cutout. The V-Anchor Lock instead wedges a full lock plate against the tang, closer in principle to a Liner Lock, while the magnet's only job is keeping the button flush and out of the way when the knife is closed. That split between locking function and recess function is what sets it apart.
