The Case Canoe got its name the honest way — the handle actually looks like a canoe. The symmetrical equal-end shape, with its distinctive curved bolsters on both ends, gives the knife a profile unlike any other Case pattern. It is one of those designs that looks right immediately, even if you cannot place exactly why. The 47496 brings that classic silhouette to a Smooth Blue Curly Oak Wood handle from Case's new 2026 wood lineup — a combination of one of Case's most timeless patterns and one of their most visually striking new handle materials. The figured grain under the blue dye runs in waves across the handle and catches the light differently from every angle.
The Canoe configuration is a two-blade equal-end knife — one blade on each end of the handle. The 2.625-inch spear point blade is the workhorse, a heavy-duty utility tool built for piercing, tough cuts, and field tasks that demand a strong, centered tip. On the opposite end is the 2-inch pen blade, designed for light work, precision cuts, and sharpening tasks where a fine tip and controlled edge matter most. Both are Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel with a mirror polish and nail nicks for opening. Together they cover a wider range of cutting needs than most two-blade configurations, because the blades work in opposite directions and serve genuinely different purposes.
At 3.625 inches closed and 2.6 ounces the Canoe carries with a presence that belies its size. The slip joint holds both blades open with a confident spring and the half-stops let you feel the blade travel clearly as you open and close.
