Product Description
The Case Cheetah Cub 55236 is the Pocket Worn version of the compact Cheetah pattern — the same 2.58" clip point lockback with swing guard, but with a handle treatment that separates it from standard production: the corn cob jig bone has been hand-smoothed through Case's Pocket Worn process, rounding the jig peaks into a worn, broken-in surface that looks and feels like a knife that has been carried for decades.
The blade is Tru-Sharp Surgical Steel — Case's proprietary designation for their 420HC stainless formula, hardened to 54–57 HRC. Tru-Sharp is a lower-maintenance choice than 1095 carbon steel: it resists corrosion in everyday carry conditions without the patina management that carbon steel requires, while still sharpening readily on a standard stone or ceramic rod. The mirror polish finish reflects the steel cleanly and provides a visual reference for edge condition when stropping or touching up in the field.
The mahogany brown bone scales carry a corn cob jig pattern that has been hand-smoothed to a Pocket Worn finish — Case's technique of tumbling and finishing handles to replicate decades of carry wear before the knife leaves the factory. The result is a handle that lacks the sharp jig peaks of a standard corn cob texture but retains enough surface variation to provide grip. The nickel silver script shield inlay sits at the center of the scale as a Case hallmark. The swing guard at the pivot adds carry safety, and the nail nick opener and lockback round out the traditional pattern.
