It uses the Reeve Integral Lock, which Chris Reeve Knives machines from the 6AL4V titanium handle itself. A ceramic ball sits where the lock bar meets the blade tang; CRK designed it to reduce wear at the lockup over years of use. The blade opens with a single thumb lug.

The knife ships with its offset pocket clip installed and a black standard wrap lanyard, plus a 5/64" wrench, fluorinated grease, Loctite, and a microfiber cloth from Chris Reeve Knives. The standard Large Sebenza 31 uses a drop point blade. The L31-1510 uses a tanto profile, where the primary edge meets a short secondary edge near the tip, leaving more material behind the point for added tip strength. On this model the tanto is hollow ground at 0.12" thick with a stonewashed finish.

The Forever Flag has appeared on Chris Reeve knives since 2002 as a tribute to American heritage from Chris and Anne Reeve, who are naturalized American citizens.
