1095 carbon steel is a classic outdoor steel: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and dependable under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.125" thick, flat-ground blade slices thin for processing game and making tinder, and the full plain edge makes sharpening simple. The tan Micarta scales have a warm, textured feel that grips well in the hand.
