Product Description
The Avispa, Spanish for "wasp," is a frame lock folding knife designed by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin of ESEE and Randall's Adventure & Training. This version pairs a 3.50" stonewashed D2 drop-point blade, shaped like the ESEE Laser Strike fixed blade, with a molded Coyote Brown polymer front and a steel frame lock rear.
D2 tool steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium steel known for holding an edge well through everyday cutting. The flat-ground drop point brings the Laser Strike's profile to a pocket-size folder, and the stonewash finish helps hide scratches from daily use. The molded polymer front keeps the knife light, while the steel frame lock keeps the blade secure in use. It's a larger alternative to ESEE's Zancudo folder.
- Blade: 3.50" D2 tool steel drop point, stonewash finish, flat grind, plain edge, 0.11" thick.
- Handle: Molded Coyote Brown polymer front on a steel frame. 0.36" thick.
- Deployment + Lock: Manual folding knife with a steel frame lock.
- Carry: 4.51 oz, 5.00" closed, 8.50" open, with an ambidextrous pocket clip for tip-up or tip-down carry.
Ideal for: everyday carriers who want a full-size frame lock folder; outdoor users who want a classic Coyote Brown handle; and Laser Strike fans who want the same blade shape in their pocket.
Care: D2 is a tool steel, not fully stainless. It resists staining better than plain carbon steel but can still spot or rust if left wet. Wipe the blade dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

ESEE Avispa Coyote Brown, Stonewash: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE Avispa folding knife with a stonewashed D2 blade and Coyote Brown polymer frame lock handle (BRK1302CB).
What kind of lock does the Avispa use?+
It uses a steel frame lock. When the blade opens, part of the steel handle frame moves behind the blade to hold it securely open. To close it, press the lock bar aside with your thumb and fold the blade closed, keeping your fingers clear of the blade's path.
What kind of blade does this Avispa have?+
It has a 3.50-inch D2 tool steel drop-point blade, 0.11 inch thick, with a stonewash finish, a flat grind, and a plain edge. The blade shape is similar to the ESEE Laser Strike fixed blade.
What is included, and how does the clip carry?+
The knife comes with its ambidextrous pocket clip, which can be set up for tip-up or tip-down carry. No sheath is included. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.
How is this different from the other Coyote Brown Avispa?+
Both have a D2 blade and a molded Coyote Brown polymer front. This version has a stonewash blade finish, which helps hide everyday scratches, while the BRK1302CBB has a black blade finish for a lower-profile look. The same pairing is available in Desert Tan as the BRK1302DT and BRK1302DTB. All are available at Knifeworks.
Will the D2 blade rust?+
It can. D2 is a high-carbon tool steel, not fully stainless. It resists staining better than plain carbon steel, but it can still spot or rust if left wet. Wipe the blade dry after use, keep a light coat of oil on it, and add a drop of oil to the pivot occasionally.
Who provides the warranty, and where is it made?+
Warranty coverage is provided by the manufacturer, not Knifeworks. Contact the manufacturer for current warranty terms and service. The Avispa is made in Taiwan.
