The ESEE Junglas (pronounced "Hoonglas") blends a hard-use fixed blade with the reach and efficiency of a machete. This knife-only version pairs a 10.38" black 1095 blade with tan Micarta handle scales. No sheath is included.
1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for large blades: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under heavy chopping. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. ESEE says designers Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin developed the Junglas for Colombia's Jungla Special Operations Commandos, who needed a tough blade for clearing dense jungle vegetation. The 0.19" thick, flat-ground blade gives you a machete's reach for clearing brush with the strength of a heavy fixed blade, and the 6.12" Micarta handle offers room for a full grip.
