Product Description
The Zancudo, Spanish for "mosquito," is a compact folding knife designed by Mike Perrin of ESEE and Randall's Adventure & Training. This version pairs a 2.94" stonewashed D2 drop-point blade, with a shape inspired by the ESEE Laser Strike fixed blade, with a steel frame lock handle and a molded Desert Tan polymer front, all at just 3.06 oz.
D2 tool steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium steel known for holding an edge well through everyday cutting. The flat-ground drop point slices cleanly, and the stonewash finish helps hide scratches from daily use. The molded Desert Tan polymer front keeps the knife light and gives it an earth-toned, field-ready look, while the steel frame lock keeps the blade secure in use.
- Blade: 2.94" D2 tool steel drop point, stonewash finish, flat grind, plain edge, 0.09" thick.
- Handle: Molded Desert Tan polymer front on a steel frame. 0.35" thick.
- Deployment + Lock: Manual folding knife with a steel frame lock.
- Carry: 3.06 oz, 4.00" closed, 7.00" open, with an ambidextrous pocket clip for tip-up or tip-down carry.
Ideal for: everyday carriers who want a small, lightweight frame lock folder; outdoor users who want an earth-toned Desert Tan handle; and Laser Strike owners who want a pocket companion with a similar blade shape.
Care: D2 is a tool steel, not fully stainless. It resists staining better than plain carbon steel but can still spot or rust if left wet. Wipe the blade dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

ESEE Zancudo Desert Tan: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE Zancudo folding knife with a stonewashed D2 blade and Desert Tan polymer frame lock handle (BRKR2DT).
What kind of lock does the Zancudo use?+
It uses a steel frame lock. When the blade opens, part of the steel handle frame moves behind the blade to hold it securely open. To close it, press the lock bar aside with your thumb and fold the blade closed, keeping your fingers clear of the blade's path.
What kind of blade does the Zancudo have?+
It has a 2.94-inch D2 tool steel drop-point blade, 0.09 inch thick, with a stonewash finish, a flat grind, and a plain edge. The blade shape is inspired by the ESEE Laser Strike fixed blade.
What is included, and how does the clip carry?+
The knife comes with its ambidextrous pocket clip, which can be set up for tip-up or tip-down carry. No sheath is included. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.
Which Zancudo should I choose?+
All Zancudo models share the same 2.94-inch D2 blade and frame lock. This version pairs a stonewashed blade with a Desert Tan handle. The Zancudo also comes with a black handle (BRKR2 stonewash, BRKR2B black blade) and an OD Green handle (BRKR2OD stonewash, BRKR2ODB black blade). For a larger folder with the same design, see the Avispa. All are available at Knifeworks.
Will the D2 blade rust?+
It can. D2 is a high-carbon tool steel, not fully stainless. It resists staining better than plain carbon steel, but it can still spot or rust if left wet. Wipe the blade dry after use, keep a light coat of oil on it, and add a drop of oil to the pivot occasionally.
Who provides the warranty, and where is it made?+
Warranty coverage is provided by the manufacturer, not Knifeworks. Contact the manufacturer for current warranty terms and service. The Zancudo is made in Taiwan.
