The Extrema Ratio RAO Avio EX130RAOAVIO is a folder designed to be carried and used like a fixed blade — and it delivers on that promise with a locking system that makes the distinction nearly irrelevant. A steel pin is hand-screwed into place to lock the blade either open or closed. Not a liner lock, not a frame lock — a physical steel pin that threads in by hand, creating a lockup that approaches the security of a fixed blade in a platform that still closes for carry. This is the updated version of the original RAO, built for the Aeronautica Militare — the Italian Military Air Force.

The blade is ground from Böhler N690 — an Austrian stainless steel alloyed with cobalt that delivers high corrosion resistance, excellent edge retention, and easy resharpening in a production military blade format. At 58-60 HRC, N690 is the standard specification steel for European military and law enforcement knife applications. The tanto profile carries the Testudo black finish — Extrema Ratio's proprietary surface treatment that provides a non-reflective, wear-resistant coating specifically developed for tactical and military applications. At 0.25" thick, the blade is built for the hard use the mission demands.

The handle is machined from Anticorodal aluminum alloy — a high-strength, corrosion-resistant aluminum used in aviation and marine applications — black anodized for durability and stealth. A lanyard is included. The green heavy-duty nylon MOLLE compatible sheath features a protective liner and carries the survival kit in a separate MOLLE-compatible unit (5.5" x 3.25" x 2") that attaches to the sheath, a MOLLE vest, or carries independently. The 9-item kit covers signaling, navigation, fire starting, water purification, trapping, cutting, illumination, and blade maintenance.
