The blade is ground from 14C28N — Sandvik's Swedish stainless steel engineered for exceptional corrosion resistance and an outstanding sharpening response. The 14C28N designation reflects its composition: 14% chromium for corrosion resistance in field and moisture conditions, with carbon, nitrogen, and manganese additions that produce a fine carbide structure. This fine-carbide microstructure gives 14C28N the ability to take and hold a highly refined edge — and to come back to a sharp edge quickly on any sharpening system after field use. At 0.14" thick, the blade carries adequate stock for the demanding cuts a compact hunting knife encounters while remaining thin enough for precise detail work.
