CTS BD1N is a nitrogen-enriched stainless steel from Carpenter Technology that, according to Spyderco, balances edge retention, toughness, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening. Spyderco full-flat grinds the thin 0.05" blade for efficient slicing. The linerless handle is injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) with bilateral grooves and a pebbled texture for grip, and Spyderco builds the Charisma at its headquarters in Golden, Colorado.
