The Emphasis was designed to answer the question of what the Efficient would look like with more room — more blade, more handle, more carrying versatility — without changing what made the original work. The C245GP is the plain-edge version of that answer, and it was discontinued by Spyderco in 2025. Remaining stock at this price won't come back.

The blade is 8Cr13MoV stainless steel — the same Chinese-produced alloy that Spyderco trusts for this value tier. At the length and grind geometry here, 8Cr13MoV performs well: good corrosion resistance, a satin finish that sheds moisture and hides light wear, and an easy sharpening profile that responds well on basic equipment. The full-flat grind opens the blade geometry from spine to edge, producing a lean cross-section that slices cleanly and requires no exaggerated sharpening angle. The 3.58" modified drop point offers a full-length usable edge with enough belly for push cuts and a controlled tip for detail work. An index-finger choil at the base of the edge provides a forward choke position for additional blade control.

The G-10 handle is textured for purchase without being rough in the pocket. Skeletonized stainless steel liners provide structural strength without unnecessary weight, and the stainless backspacer keeps the frame rigid. The Liner Lock locks solidly when open. The black-coated deep-pocket wire clip is mounted at the butt end of the handle for a carry position that keeps the knife low and nearly invisible in the pocket — reversible side to side for left or right-hand carry, tip-up only.
