The Shaman uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into the nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners. When the knife is open, a leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.

Spyderco designed the Shaman to bring the advanced ergonomics and proven design of its Native folder to a larger, more capable format. It keeps the contoured handle and Compression Lock, with a longer 3.58-inch blade and a 4.67-inch closed length for more cutting reach and a fuller grip.

CPM S30V is an American particle metallurgy stainless steel developed specifically for knife blades, with a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. On the C229GP it is hardened to 61-62 HRC and finished with a stonewash that hides scratches from daily use.

The C229GP has a 3.58-inch blade with a 3.12-inch PlainEdge, a full-flat grind, and an acute point, so it slices cleanly through boxes, rope, strapping, and food while the point handles detail work. The full-size handle gives good control during heavier cuts.

The C229GP ships as a knife with its four-position pocket clip installed. It is knife only, with no sheath included. Packaging and included items are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.
