Product DescriptionTOPS HKT (Hunter, Killer, Tracker), 1095 High Carbon Steel RC 56-58, Black Linen Micarta
HKT is an acronym for Hunter Killer Tracker. The acronym is borrowed, with all due respect, from the Military acronym for Hunter Killer Teams. Mobius Training Solutions has trained Military and Law Enforcement personnel in tactical application of many kinds, from basic to advanced handgun and carbine and more, but the real specialty of Mobius Training Solutions is training Hunter Killer Trackers. The HKT design incorporates a broad cutting surface and an offset grip angle in order to better facilitate the forward thrust style of attack, in addition to slashing. The wide bodied blade of the HKT is complimented by the signature concave strike face of the Back Bite fighting knife to facilitate supreme combative application.Specifications

I have had a love hate relationship with the idea of this knife for quite some time and being a long time student of the Filipino edged weapons systems I thought I would give this interesting little knife a try. What I like about it is that it is a compact knife that can be easily carried openly or concealed. The angle from the blade to the handle to the blade lends well to thrusting movements without having to cant your wrist to much and the knife in general flows easily through angle drills. The point in its semi tanto design is needle acute. Some negatives are the fact that the edge geometry is a chisel grind and arrived far less keen than I expected and I now have to educate myself on the sharpening of this manner of knife edge. The handle while well made, seems to be for smaller hands than mine but you still have the ability to choke up on the blade safely that allows for better retention and control. The handle is also a bit square in the hand and just doesn't quite feel good. That being said, I have contacted Tops knives and I intend to order a set of Rocky Mountain Tread scales for the HKT. The sheath is secure with no rattle and while I have read many reviews that do not like the belt clip, this really is a non issue as the clip is very easily removable and a myriad of carrying options are available. It sounds like I have been overly critical of this knife and that was not my intent. This is still a Tops knife and the quality is immediately obvious once the knife is in hand. It has a comforting weight that lets you know you have a solid defensive knife in your hand without being overly cumbersome. I truly only gave this knife 4 stars for my personal knife snob issues. I really like this knife and for all my complaints I am not ready to resign it to the safe. I am getting more scales, I will be learning to put a far better edge on both edges and I will be improving the carry equipment for the sheath. I have been bugging Knifeworks with questions and orders lately. That is their own fault though for their ridiculously fast and accurate shipping and excellent prices.
