The WE40 clamps your knife upright in a vise, and two guide rods hold the sharpening stones at a fixed angle on each side of the blade. You stroke the stones along the edge while the rods keep the angle constant, which produces a consistent, even bevel on both sides. Angle markings in 1-degree increments let you repeat the same edge every time you sharpen.

The WE40 sharpens at 13 to 31 degrees per side (26 to 62 degrees inclusive), with markings calibrated for the knife's edge to sit 5/8 inch above the top of the vise. It handles blades up to 15 inches long and clamps blades up to 1/4 inch thick.

The WE40 includes standard 200/600 grit diamond stones (2 each), an injection-molded GFN base, a Type 2 anodized standard vise, 8.75-inch stainless steel guide rods with shields, an alignment guide that doubles as a practice knife, and access to Wicked Edge's full YouTube instructional playlist. It ships boxed. Included items are set by Wicked Edge and are subject to change.

The WE40 is compatible with all Wicked Edge sharpening stones and strops, the 13-inch Guide Rods for WE60 Series Sharpeners, the Low Angle and Small Knife Adapter, the 60 Series Low Angle and Small Knife Kit, the Scissor Attachment, the Chisel Attachment, and the Aluminum Base. These are sold separately.

You can secure the WE40 to any flat surface with a C-clamp, or mount it directly to a workbench through the 4 predrilled holes in the base. At 2 pounds, it is light and compact enough to store easily or take with you.
