The blade is CPM MagnaCut, a Crucible Particle Metallurgy stainless designed by metallurgist Larrin Thomas to eliminate the standard tradeoffs that define most stainless steels. CPM MagnaCut delivers corrosion resistance equivalent to H1 sea-duty stainless, edge retention exceeding CPM-S35VN and approaching M390, and toughness that outperforms M390, 20CV, and CPM-S90V — all in a steel that sharpens on a standard ceramic rod without the diamond-hone requirement of M390 or CPM-S90V.
