The blade is ground from CPM-S90V — Crucible's particle metallurgy stainless steel engineered for maximum wear resistance and edge retention through a high vanadium content that creates exceptionally hard carbides resistant to edge wear. At 59-61 HRC and 0.09" thin, the spear point is a slicing-optimized blade geometry: a symmetric point where the spine and edge converge at the centerline, creating a fine, penetrating tip and a clean profile that reads as refined rather than tactical. The Cerakote® finish is a polymer-ceramic coating applied through a precision process that bonds to the blade surface — non-reflective, matte black, corrosion-resistant, and scratch-resistant beyond standard paint or anodize. On the all-black 491BK-02, the Cerakote blade disappears into the black milled G-10 scales for a unified stealth aesthetic broken only by the warm Burnt Copper hardware accents.

The AXIS Lock deploys and closes the blade ambidextrously from either side — the hardened steel crossbar runs through the handle, engaging a ramp on the blade tang at full open, and releasing from either side without the thumb crossing the blade path. Ball-bearing pivot washers give the flipper the smooth, fast, snappy action the Lowden is designed to deliver. Black milled G-10 scales provide grip through the milled texture cut directly into the G-10 surface. Burnt Copper hardware accents — pivot, standoffs, and hardware throughout — provide the only warm color in an otherwise all-black package. Tip-down standard carry, ambidextrous, black clip.
