The byrd by Spyderco Magpie Black Blade builds on the Harrier 2, the descendant of the original model that started the byrd line, with a black oxide 9Cr18MoV blade and striking black-and-white G10 scales inspired by its namesake bird.
9Cr18MoV is a stainless steel with more carbon and chromium than the steel used in earlier byrd models. Spyderco notes this gives it better edge retention and corrosion resistance than its predecessor. For everyday carry, that means a dependable working edge that is easy to resharpen and handles daily chores well. The 3.28" drop-point blade is full-flat ground for clean slicing and finished in a black oxide coating for a low-glare look.
