The byrd by Spyderco Magpie Black Blade BY25GPSBK builds on the Harrier 2 with a partially serrated black oxide 9Cr18MoV blade and striking black-and-white G10 scales inspired by its namesake bird.
9Cr18MoV is a stainless steel with more carbon and chromium than the steel used in earlier byrd models. Spyderco notes this gives it better edge retention and corrosion resistance than its predecessor. This version uses a CombinationEdge: a plain section near the tip for clean push cuts and controlled work, and serrations near the handle that bite into rope, cord, webbing, and other fibrous materials. The 3.28" drop-point blade is full-flat ground and finished in a black oxide coating for a low-glare look.

What kind of lock does the Byrd Magpie use?＋
It uses a Back Lock, a classic lockback mechanism set into the spine of the handle. To close the knife, press down on the lock bar at the back of the handle and fold the blade closed, keeping your fingers clear of the edge.
