The 2.375-inch D2 tool steel blade is bead blasted to a non-reflective finish and ground with a blunt sheepsfoot tip — the safest geometry for precision cutting where a sharp point would be a liability. D2 is a semi-stainless high-carbon tool steel with exceptional edge retention that outperforms most stainless steels on holding an edge through hard use. The integral finger guard adds security under pressure, and the needle notch wrench on the blade spine makes swapping dull veterinary needles fast and safe. Full tang construction runs the full length of the handle for maximum rigidity.

The black G10 handle scales are textured for a firm, reliable grip in wet or dry conditions, fitted with two mosaic pins and a large lanyard hole. G10 is fiberglass laminate — it does not absorb moisture, swell, crack, or fade, and holds up to decades of field use without maintenance.
