Pro-Tech contributes precision machining and blade production to their established manufacturing standard. Squid Industries contributes balisong-specific design knowledge — handle geometry, pivot tuning, zen pin placement, and the balance characteristics that make a butterfly knife flip well. The collaboration produces a knife neither company would build alone to the same specification.

The FF2101-RED uses 154CM stainless steel with a satin finish — the same steel Pro-Tech uses in the Godfather and other flagship automatics. 154CM is a high-chromium stainless with reliable edge retention, good corrosion resistance, and straightforward sharpening on any ceramic or diamond medium. The spear point blade profile and flat grind are identical to the Godfather blade geometry, providing balanced performance in both directions for flip sequences and clean cutting performance when deployed.

Without zen pins, the blade tang contacts the handle directly, which can cause wear over time and affects the feel of the knife during trick sequences.
