    What is the difference between a Squid Industries trainer and a live blade?+

    Squid Industries trainers — including the Squiddy, Squiddy-B, Triton, and Nautilus — use unsharpened plastic or aluminum blades with no cutting edge. They are designed for learning and practicing balisong technique without the injury risk of a live blade and without the legal restrictions that apply to butterfly knives in some jurisdictions. Live blade balisongs — the Weehawk, Krake Raken, and FlyFather 2 — use real steel blades with sharpened edges and are subject to butterfly knife laws that vary significantly by state and country.

    The FlyFather 2 is a collaboration between Squid Industries and Pro-Tech Knives of Placentia, California. Squid Industries contributes balisong-specific design knowledge: handle geometry, zen pin placement, bushing pivot tuning, and balance. The result is a USA-made live balisong with a 4.25-inch 154CM spear point blade, aluminum channel handles, and tolerances neither company would produce alone. Available in black aluminum (FF2101) and red aluminum (FF2101-RED).
