AEB-L is a Swedish stainless steel with a fine carbide structure that takes and holds a keen, refined edge at 58-60 HRC while maintaining the toughness a balisong pivot demands — repeated impact stress through the blade tang on every open, close, and drop sequence. At 0.120 inches thick in a flat ground Weehawk profile, AEB-L delivers the slicing performance the geometry is built for while handling the mechanical demands of live balisong use that a more brittle high-hardness steel would not.

The precision tuned bushing pivot uses machined bushing sleeves at the pivot point rather than ball bearings or washers. Bushings distribute pivot load across a larger contact surface, producing stable, smooth action that is less sensitive to lubrication than a bearing system.
