Product Description
The Spyderco Kapara is Spyderco's rendition of Australian custom maker Alistair Phillips' Redback design. This limited-edition Sprint Run pairs it with a CPM REX 121 blade built for long-lasting edge retention and burnt orange G-10.
CPM REX 121 is a high-vanadium, cobalt-bearing high-speed tool steel from Crucible Industries, made with powder metallurgy. Crucible formulated it for very high hardness and wear resistance, for industrial cutting work where ordinary tool steels wear out too fast. In a knife blade, that translates to an edge that can keep cutting cardboard, rope, and other abrasive materials far longer than most steels before it needs sharpening. The Kapara's 3.63" blade is full-flat ground with a satin finish for efficient slicing.
- Blade: 3.63" CPM REX 121, full-flat grind, satin finish, 0.118" thick, 3.45" plain cutting edge. 8.32" overall.
- Handle: Contoured burnt orange G-10 scales over full, skeletonized stainless steel liners. 4.69" closed, 3.5 oz.
- Deployment + Lock: Spyderco Round Hole opening and a Compression Lock built into the stainless steel liners.
- Carry: Deep-pocket wire clip, reversible for left- or right-side tip-up carry. Knife only; no sheath included.
Ideal for: steel enthusiasts collecting CPM REX 121 knives; Spyderco Sprint Run collectors; and everyday carriers who want a slim, lightweight folder with long-lasting edge retention.
Care: CPM REX 121 is not stainless. It can rust and may develop a patina. Keep the blade dry and lightly oiled, especially in humid weather or after cutting food.

Spyderco Kapara REX 121 Sprint Run: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the Spyderco Kapara REX 121 Sprint Run (C241GPBOR).
What kind of lock does the Spyderco Kapara use?+
It uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into full, skeletonized stainless steel liners. The lock holds the blade securely open, and its thumb release works with either hand.
What is a Spyderco Sprint Run?+
A Sprint Run is a limited production run of a Spyderco model, often in a different steel or handle material than the standard version. This Kapara Sprint Run pairs the design with a CPM REX 121 blade and burnt orange G-10.
Will the CPM REX 121 blade rust?+
It can. CPM REX 121 is a high-speed tool steel, not stainless, and it may develop a patina over time. Wipe the blade dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it, especially in humid weather or after cutting food.
How do I sharpen a CPM REX 121 blade?+
CPM REX 121's high wear resistance means it holds an edge a long time, but it can also be slow to sharpen on conventional stones. Diamond or CBN abrasives are commonly recommended. Touching up the edge before it gets very dull makes maintenance easier.
What is included with the Kapara Sprint Run?+
The knife ships with its deep-pocket wire clip installed, which is reversible for left- or right-side tip-up carry. This is a knife-only listing, so no sheath is included. Packaging and contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.
What warranty does the Kapara have, and where is it made?+
Spyderco handles warranty service for this knife. Contact Spyderco directly for warranty terms and service. The Kapara is made in Taiwan and is based on a design by Australian custom knifemaker Alistair Phillips.
