The Spyderco Smock Sprint Run C240GPBOR pairs a 3.39" CPM REX 121 blade with burnt orange G-10 scales in a limited Sprint Run. Based on a design by custom knifemaker Kevin Smock, the Smock was Spyderco's first model to feature a Button-Release Compression Lock, a variation of its signature Compression Lock that Spyderco says makes one-handed operation simpler and easier.
CPM REX 121 is a high-vanadium, cobalt-bearing high-speed tool steel from Crucible Industries, known for very high hardness and wear resistance, which translates into long edge retention on abrasive cutting. Spyderco gives the drop point blade a deep hollow grind for a fine, acute edge and a bi-directional satin finish. The burnt orange peel-ply-textured G-10 scales sit over skeletonized full stainless steel liners, and the blade opens with either the Spyderco Round Hole or a flipper.
