The Military 2 C36GPCBL2 updates Sal Glesser's original Military, one of Spyderco's best-known designs, with a Compression Lock, larger nested liners, and a four-position clip. This version pairs a 4.0" CPM SPY27 blade with cobalt blue G-10.
CPM SPY27 is Spyderco's proprietary stainless steel, developed in close cooperation with Crucible Industries. Spyderco says it builds on VG-10 with added niobium and nitrogen, plus more carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium, all made with Crucible's particle metallurgy process. In practice, that means an edge that holds up through long stretches of field use, handles sweat and wet weather well, and sharpens without much fuss. The 0.145" blade is full-flat ground with a satin finish, and its textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp support a choked-up grip for precise cuts.

What lock does the Spyderco Military 2 C36GPCBL2 use?＋
The Military 2 uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into the skeletonized stainless steel liners nested inside the G-10 scales. When the knife is open, a leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.
How is the Military 2 different from the original Military?＋
Spyderco replaced the original Military's Liner Lock with a Compression Lock, which Spyderco says offers greater strength and safer one-handed operation. The stainless steel liners are larger for added structural strength, and they anchor a new four-position pocket clip.
