The Military 2 C36GS2 updates Sal Glesser's original Military, one of Spyderco's best-known designs, with a Compression Lock, larger nested liners, and a four-position clip. This version pairs a 4.0" satin CPM S30V blade with a fully serrated SpyderEdge and black G-10.
CPM S30V is an American particle metallurgy stainless steel designed specifically for knife blades, with a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Here it is full-flat ground with a satin finish. The fully serrated SpyderEdge grips and cuts rope, webbing, and synthetic cordage where a plain edge tends to slide, and the textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp support a choked-up grip for control.

What lock does the Spyderco Military 2 C36GS2 use?＋
The Military 2 uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into the skeletonized stainless steel liners nested inside the G-10 scales. When the knife is open, a leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.
How is the Military 2 different from the original Military?＋
Spyderco replaced the original Military's Liner Lock with a Compression Lock, which Spyderco says offers greater strength and safer one-handed operation. The stainless steel liners are larger for added structural strength, and they anchor a new four-position pocket clip. The full-flat ground blade, Trademark Round Hole, and textured choil and thumb ramp carry over from the original design.
What is a SpyderEdge serrated blade good for, and how do I sharpen it?＋
Spyderco's SpyderEdge is a fully serrated edge pattern. The serrations grip fibrous materials, so the blade cuts rope, webbing, seatbelt material, and synthetic cordage where a plain edge tends to slip. To sharpen it, use the corner of a triangle or tapered rod to touch up each serration from the beveled side, then lightly remove the burr on the flat side.
