It uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built on the knife's nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners. A leaf spring set into the spine of the handle wedges against the blade tang to hold the blade open; to close it, press the exposed spring toward the opposite side. The lock works the same in either hand, and the blade opens one-handed with the Spyderco Round Hole.

It is part of Spyderco's Salt series. The blade is CPM MagnaCut, a stainless steel known for high corrosion resistance, and the open-backed handle is easy to rinse clean. Rinse the knife with fresh water and dry it after saltwater use to keep it in top shape.

The G-10 scales are made in alternating black and yellow layers. Spyderco machines them with its Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture pattern, which gives a secure, non-slip grip and exposes the yellow layers to make the knife easier to spot in and around the water.

The four-position pocket clip carries the knife tip-up or tip-down on either side of the body. The handle also has a generously sized lanyard hole for a fob or safety lanyard. The knife weighs 4.2 oz and measures 5.51" closed.
