The Native 5 Lightweight Salt uses a precision-machined Back Lock. When the blade opens, a spring-loaded lock bar in the spine of the handle drops into a notch in the blade tang and holds it securely. To close, press the exposed section of the lock bar on the back of the handle and fold the blade, keeping your fingers clear of the edge. The lock works the same for left- and right-handed users.

Spyderco's Salt Series uses highly corrosion-resistant materials throughout. This knife pairs a CPM MagnaCut blade with a linerless FRN handle that reduces the number of metal parts, and the bright yellow handle is easy to spot. Rinse the knife with fresh water and dry it after salt exposure to keep it in top condition.

Spyderco's SpyderEdge is a fully serrated edge pattern. The serrations grip fibrous materials, so the blade cuts rope, fishing line, webbing, and cordage where a plain edge tends to slip. To sharpen it, use the corner of a triangle or tapered rod to touch up each serration from the beveled side, then lightly remove the burr on the flat side. Spyderco also offers factory sharpening service.

CPM MagnaCut is a powder metallurgy stainless steel from Crucible Industries, designed to balance edge retention, toughness, and very high corrosion resistance. It holds a working edge through daily use and resists rust from salt water and humidity, which makes it a strong fit for the Salt Series.

The C41SYL5 ships as a knife with its four-position pocket clip installed. It is knife only, with no sheath included. Packaging and included items are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.
