Micro-Melt Maxamet is a tool steel from Carpenter Technology, originally formulated to roll red-hot steel billets in Carpenter's own mills. In a knife, that means extreme hardness and wear resistance, so the edge keeps cutting through cardboard, tape, and cord long after most knife steels have dulled. The 0.145" blade is full-flat ground with a satin finish for clean slicing. The trade-off is maintenance: it isn't stainless, and it takes diamond or CBN abrasives to sharpen.
