It uses Spyderco's Compression Lock. A leaf spring set into the spine of the handle wedges against the blade tang to hold the blade open; to close it, press the exposed spring toward the opposite side. The lock works the same in either hand, and the blade opens one-handed with the Spyderco Round Hole.

The 3.58" full-flat-ground drop point is thin behind the edge for efficient slicing, with enough belly for push cuts and enough tip control for detail work. The PlainEdge makes it a general-purpose everyday carry blade for packaging, cordage, food prep, and utility cutting.

CTS BD1N sharpens without much difficulty on standard bench stones, ceramic rods, or a guided system. Touching up the edge before it gets very dull keeps maintenance quick. Because it is a stainless steel, routine care is simple: wipe the blade clean and dry after use.

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is a thin, hard coating that gives the blade a non-reflective black finish. Spyderco pairs it with black-coated liners, pocket clip, and handle hardware for an all-black build. Like any coating, it can show wear with heavy use over time.

The four-position pocket clip carries the knife tip-up or tip-down on either side of the body. The knife ships with its clip installed; this is a knife-only listing, so no sheath is included. Packaging and contents are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.
