Product Description
The Spyderco Slym Black Blade takes Michele Pensato's Skinny design, adds Spyderco's Round Hole, and coats the M390 blade and solid titanium handle in black tungsten carbide carbon PVD. It is made in Italy by LionSteel.
M390 is a Böhler-Uddeholm powder-metallurgy stainless steel known for strong edge retention and good corrosion resistance. In practice, that means a blade that stays sharp through long stretches of everyday cutting and resists rust with basic care. The 3.42" drop-point blade is full-flat ground for clean slicing, and the black PVD coating adds a stealthy look and an extra layer of surface protection. A removable flipper tab and the Round Hole give you more than one way to open it with either hand.
- Blade: 3.42" M390 drop point, full-flat grind, black tungsten carbide carbon PVD coating, 0.135" thick, 3.28" plain cutting edge. 7.84" overall.
- Handle: One-piece titanium handle machined with LionSteel's SOLID technology, coated in black PVD, with a black-and-white fatcarbon Dark Matter Polar carbon fiber inlay and a lanyard hole. 4.43" closed, 3.4 oz.
- Deployment + Lock: Removable flipper tab or Spyderco Round Hole opening on ball-bearing washers, with a Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) frame lock. A hardened steel interface gives a steel-to-steel lockup and acts as an overtravel stop for the lock bar.
- Carry: Butt-mounted deep-pocket clip, reversible for left- or right-side tip-up carry. Knife only; no sheath included.
Ideal for: carriers who want a slim, full-size titanium folder in an all-black finish; flipper fans who still like the option of a Round Hole; and collectors of Spyderco's Italian-made LionSteel collaborations.
The carbon fiber inlay's pattern may vary slightly from knife to knife.

Spyderco Slym Black Blade: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the Spyderco Slym Black Blade (C271TIBKPBK).
What kind of lock does the Spyderco Slym use?+
It uses a Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.), a frame lock built into the reverse side of the titanium handle. A hardened steel interface gives steel-to-steel contact with the blade and acts as an overtravel stop for the lock bar.
How does the Slym open, and can the flipper be removed?+
You can open it with the flipper tab or with Spyderco's Round Hole, using either hand. The flipper tab is removable if you prefer a Round Hole-only setup. Ball-bearing washers at the pivot give it a smooth action.
Who makes the Spyderco Slym, and where is it made?+
The Slym is Spyderco's version of Michele Pensato's Skinny design and is manufactured in Italy by LionSteel for Spyderco. Its one-piece titanium handle is machined using LionSteel's SOLID technology.
What is included with the Slym Black Blade?+
The knife ships with its butt-mounted deep-pocket clip installed, which is reversible for left- or right-side tip-up carry. This is a knife-only listing, so no sheath is included. Packaging and contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.
What warranty does the Slym Black Blade have?+
Spyderco handles warranty service for this knife. Contact Spyderco directly for warranty terms and service. The Slym is made in Italy by LionSteel for Spyderco.
How does the Slym compare to the Spyderco Thyn?+
The Thyn (C279TIP) is a scaled-down version of the Slym, roughly 14 percent smaller, with a 2.94-inch blade. The Slym is the full-size model with a 3.42-inch blade. Both share the same M390 blade, titanium handle, R.I.L. lock, and dual opening methods, and both are available at Knifeworks.
